I’m a completely innocent student going to school that rainy Friday morning when I stumbled across the path of this book with a title ‘Something Special’. At first, it is not on my schedule to drop by at our regular book shop (It’s a complete accident, I’m telling you!) and buy a book at first glance (Which is exactly what I did and naturally wiped out half of my allowance along with it, obviously given to me to spend that day, only for that day!) without bothering to read the back cover! It wasn't until I'm at school that I'm able to read the whole 'teaser' as I call it. Its three stories compiled into one!
WHEN THREE INDEPENDENT WOMEN...
Stranded at a remote ski lodge in a blinding blizzard, Jennifer Lengle seeks shelter and warmth, never expecting to find both in the arms of sophisticated, seductive stranger Adam Banner. But Adam isn't looking for a forever kind of woman...or is he?
MEET THREE IRRESISTIBLY SEXY MEN...
Ben Larkin thrives when the stakes are high. But what are the odds that he'll convince Victoria Sweigart to take a chance on him? After vowing never to trust a handsome stranger again, Victoria is on the verge of a fresh start--only to find herself helplessly drawn to Ben.
SOMETHING SPECIAL IS BOUND TO HAPPEN!
Dr. Helen Cassidy has vowed never to marry, but a certain charismatic bachelor is determined to change her mind. For Marshall Kirk has finally found the woman he intends to make his wife--and whatever Marsh wants, Marsh gets.
That’s what the back cover said, people., so I dropped my foot from my desk and decided to give the book a shot.
‘Snowbound Weekend’, the firs t of the three stories, is a failure.
||: The heroine, Jennifer Lengle, twenty-three virgin and legal secretary of two struggling lawyers is snowed in a small stop vacation lodge for the weekend. In the arms of dashing Adam Banner, she found a secure haven of love and passion... or so she thought.
First, why are there no cellphones or any device of communication they can use? They had a radio but not a cellphone? Give me a break. Second, why is the hero so much of a straight-faced jerk? Okay, we can twist the story a little ,(after all its a romance novel and everybody loves a twist right? I sure does)...there: the guy left the girl with a little piece of note after taking her innocence and it took a long time before they got contact again. If that ever happened to me, expect that guy to be dumped out of my life. I have no room for such egotistical men. Third, the guy 'forced' the girl to marry him. That's it. I'm not liking it. Now and forever. Never.
‘Gambler’s Love, the hero is one forceful dude. Ben Larkin, for heaven's sake, next time you ask a girl out (because if I'm extending the story I won't let you end up with Vichy Sweigart, no! Not even if you perfected the puppy eyes technique!) provide essential information: your birthday, perhaps? Address? And yeah, court her properly. That's all I can say. I'm rendered speechless.
The Game is Played’ would have made it passably good, if only the hero elaborated why of all name that is holy would you say to a girl that she, naturally belonged to him since the dawn of time, plus the idiotic attitude of the girl and the cynic of a guy, I can't bear finishing it. So I...skimmed...
Helen Cassidy is a professional doctor of pregnant women. Marshall Kirk is the brother o one of her patients. In their first time -alone- to be together, the guy confessed that he had fallen in love in first sight and that he'll do what it takes to make Helen his.
That, is not what I call romantic, more like psychotic, neurotic, lines with the bizarre but never! romance.
Want to save time? Forget it. Grade? One out of five. Failed.
For the first time of my life I’m not changing my mind about my reviews. First post, here we go!
